Which Network Will Your eSIM Use?

Anguilla has two operators, but a given eSIM is not entitled to both. Checked against our own coverage data on 13 September 2026, our plan families declare different networks — so "just try the other one" is advice that will disconnect you. Leave network selection on automatic, and only choose by hand if you already know which operator your plan declares.

Hurricane Irma and the Network You Get Today
Hurricane Irma passed directly over Anguilla in September 2017 and remains the strongest storm ever to hit the island. The damage bill came to roughly US$320 million, and a great deal of the island's infrastructure went with it. Repairs ran through 2018 and 2019, and the economy began recovering from 2019.
That history matters for one practical reason: a lot of what is written about connectivity in Anguilla is frozen at one of two moments — the island before the storm, or the island immediately after it. Neither describes what you will find. Treat Anguilla as what it is now: a small, rebuilt island with two 4G operators, where the useful question is not "is there signal" but "which of the two operators does my plan entitle me to".
Hurricane season runs June to November, with the peak historically in September — the month Irma arrived. Which network does an Anguilla eSIM actually connect to?
It depends on the plan you buy, and that is the single most useful thing to know before you land. Checked against our own coverage data on 13 September 2026: the Anguilla plans fulfilled through eSIMfly declare Flow and only Flow, while the Anguilla plans fulfilled through Airalo declare Digicel and only Digicel. Global "Discover" plans sit somewhere in between — the eSIMfly version declares Flow, the Airalo version declares both. Every row says 4G; nothing in our catalogue declares 5G for Anguilla. The practical advice: leave network selection on automatic. If you force a network by hand and pick the operator your particular plan is not entitled to, you will sit on a bar of signal with no data.
Does a Caribbean regional plan cover Anguilla?
No, and this trips people up constantly. Airalo’s Caribbean regional package covers 26 destinations — including Sint Maarten and Saint-Martin, Antigua, Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and more — but Anguilla is not one of them. eSIMfly does not publish a Caribbean regional package at all. Can one eSIM cover both Anguilla and Sint Maarten / Saint-Martin?

It does not list Saint-Martin, the French side, where the public ferry to Anguilla departs from Marigot. A country plan for Anguilla works in Anguilla and nowhere else. So the honest options are: a global plan if you want one profile for the airport day and the island stay, or two country plans if you want the cheapest per-gigabyte price on each side.
How do I actually get to Anguilla, and will my phone work on the way?
Almost everyone flies into Princess Juliana (SXM) on Sint Maarten and continues by sea. There are two routes. The public ferry runs between Marigot, on the French side, and Blowing Point in Anguilla eight times a day; the Anguilla Tourist Board lists the fare at US$30 one way for adults and US$20 for under-12s, with no advance reservations. Private boats run from the Anguilla–St Maarten ferry terminal opposite the airport on the Dutch side, from around US$65 per person one way, and those do take bookings. Your Anguilla-only eSIM will not work on either side of Sint Maarten during that transfer — plan for airport WiFi, a global plan, or a second profile.
How much data do I need for a week in Anguilla?
Less than you would use in a city. Anguilla is about 16 miles long with roughly 16,000 residents, there is very little navigation to do, and most of the day is spent on a beach. Three to five gigabytes comfortably covers messaging, email, maps and a steady stream of photos for a week. Ten gigabytes or more makes sense if you are working remotely, taking video calls home, or uploading video rather than stills. Our Anguilla country plans run from 1 GB up to 20 GB.
Do I need a visa for Anguilla?
Most short-stay leisure visitors from the US, UK, EU and Canada enter on a valid passport without a visa, and the length of stay granted is set by the immigration officer on arrival rather than being a fixed entitlement. Requirements do change, and Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory with its own rules rather than UK rules, so check the current entry requirements with Anguillian immigration before you book.
Can I drive in Anguilla on my own licence?
Not on its own. You need your home licence AND a temporary local Anguillian licence, which the UK government puts at US$25 and which you buy from the car rental company; it is valid for three months. Traffic drives on the left, although plenty of rental cars are left-hand drive, and many roads are unsealed. Budget for the licence when you compare rental quotes — it is a real cost people forget.
